
The explosion occurred at noon on Friday at a cotton gin in Palamas. Karditsaresulting in four workers being taken to hospital with injuries.
In fact, two of them were intubated. Their condition is serious, but not critical. Their intubation in the intensive care unit G.N. Karditsas was considered necessary for the best treatment of wounds on the face, arms and back.
Probably, within a day, two victims – a 28-year-old Albanian and a 55-year-old resident of Palamas – will be transferred to the burn department, to a hospital in Athens or Thessaloniki.
Two other workers (aged 54 and 58) who were injured in the explosion remain at Karditsa hospital for burn treatment.
How did the explosion happen?
The accident happened yesterday at noon at a cotton gin on the Palama-Itea-Karditsa road during assembly work on a machine that has been repaired and is not yet connected to the boiler.
From the explosion in cotton, a fire broke out, which, fortunately, did not spread, since there was an immediate mobilization of P.Ya. who arrived at the scene with 7 cars and 14 men from Karditsa, Trikala and Larissa, taking the situation under control.
A preliminary investigation into the exact causes of the accident is ongoing by the Fire Service Investigation Department.
