Energy Minister Virgil Popescu announces that he has held talks with companies from the United Arab Emirates regarding investments in renewable energy production and the development of energy transportation infrastructure. Thus, the minister says that he is already discussing at a technical level with representatives of Hidroelectrica to make investments in the production of renewable energy, quoted by News.ro.

“Investments in the production of renewable energy and in the development of energy transport infrastructure were the main points that we discussed today during the meeting with the representatives of MASDAR and TAQA. Both Romania and the United Arab Emirates will benefit from cooperation in the field of energy,” the minister wrote on Facebook.

Virgil Popescu reveals that MASDAR staff are already discussing at a technical level with representatives of Hidroelectrica the possibility of investing in renewable energy production.

“At the same time, we will use the experience of TAQA staff to get involved in the development of transport infrastructure, namely the Black Sea Green Electricity submarine cable and the green electricity transmission cable on the route Tuzla – Podisor, and then on the corridor of the BRUA gas pipeline to ensure the connection with from east to west Romania”.

“I told them that I would encourage them to invest in natural gas power plants. The partnership between Romania and the UAE is based on a solid foundation and will strengthen in the near future. The meeting was also attended by Bohdan Badia – General Director of Hidroelectrica, Rezvan Popescu – General Director of Romgaz, Gheorghe Agaficei – State Counselor of the Government of Romania and His Excellency the Ambassador of Romania to the UAE Octavian Bedica,” said the Minister of Energy, who is on a visit to the United Arab Emirates.
