The dispute between the management of PSG and the mayor of Paris

In recent weeks, disputes between the management of PSG and the authorities have gained momentum. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo announced this to Le Parisien.

“It is very clear, Parc des Princes is not for sale. This is a firm and decisive position. This is the exclusive heritage of Parisians,” Hidalgo said.

In response, Paris Saint-Germain reacted in the voice of the club’s spokesperson.

“Everyone has something to lose for the position of the mayor’s office. PSG are now forced to look for alternatives to move the club, depriving Paris of serious investment. This is not the result that the team and its fans were hoping for.”

In December, the owner of the stadium, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, had already threatened to move if they were not allowed to buy the stadium. There are two options: either buy Stade de France, which seems impossible, or build a new arena.

PSG is already preparing a major investment in a new training center in Poissy and ended the previous season with a loss of almost 370 million euros.

“Paris Saint-Germain has already invested more than 85 million euros in the maintenance of Parc des Princes and has committed to invest another 500 million. The plan is to offer fans and all Parisians a stadium of high standards.

But it is obvious that such large investments will only happen when we become owners. By finally closing down negotiations, the mayor forces PSG to vacate their premises and imposes a tax burden of millions of euros on its taxpayers,” the club announced.
