Boston had 134 hours, Bogotá 122 hours, Palermo 121 hours, Toronto 118 hours, New York 117 hours, Monterey 116 hours and Philadelphia 114 additional hours spent in traffic, according to the INRIX study.

Time lost in congestion is the difference between the travel time recorded during peak hours and the time when the city is free, such as at night, the study said.

The number of cars registered in Bucharest and Ilfov has increased by more than 560,000 in the last 10 years, approaching 1.8 million, according to data provided by the Bucharest Prefecture and the Office of Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration at HotNews.ro. Actually in Bucharest, the growth was almost 30%. The growth in Ilfov is impressive, the number of registered cars has almost tripled.

In the last 5 years, the number of cars registered in Bucharest and Ilfov has increased by more than 320,000, according to the response sent by the Office of the Driving License and Vehicle Registration Regime.

Thus, in 2017, 1,296,607 vehicles were registered in Bucharest, and 166,467 in Ilfov, a total of 1,463,071. In 2022, the number increased to 1,529,221 vehicles in Bucharest, and to 256,007 in Ilfov, a total of 1 785,228 cars.

Thus, the number of cars increased by more than 232,000 in Bucharest, and by almost 90,000 in Ilfov. In total, the increase is more than 320,000 cars.

Compared to 2011, the growth is huge. According to data provided in 2016 by the Bucharest Prefecture, in 2011 there were 1,224,816 vehicles registered in Bucharest and Ilfov. At the end of 2011, 1,131,807 cars were registered in Bucharest alone. At the end of 2011, 93,009 cars were registered in Ilfov.
