“Spontaneous meeting of President Andrzej Duda with the people of Lviv”, – the official page of the Office of the President of Poland on Twitter.

The Polish leader said during the day on Wednesday that Poland is ready to deliver to Ukraine a company of Leopard 2 tanks, which Kyiv is asking for, as part of an international coalition.

“The Leopard tank company (14 armored vehicles, no) will be sent as part of the coalition being created,” Andrzej Duda said during a joint press conference with Ukrainian and Lithuanian colleagues in Lviv, in western Ukraine.

“As you know, it is necessary to fulfill a number of formal requirements, (obtain) agreements, etc.,” the Polish president said. First of all, we want it to be an international coalition.”

Any supply of German-made Leopard tanks must first receive the green light from Berlin.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called Poland’s statement “very positive” and emphasized that his country expects a “joint decision” by several countries regarding Leopard tanks.

“One state cannot help us, because we are fighting against thousands of Russian tanks,” he insisted.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Monday that he remains convinced of the need to coordinate arms supplies to Ukraine with allies.

However, a German government spokesman said on Wednesday that he was not aware of any request from allies to send Leopard main battle tanks to Ukraine.
