Marin Cilic (winner of US Open 2014 and finalist of Wimbledon 2017 and Australian Open 2018) will not be able to participate in the Grand Slam 2023 draw in Melbourne.

Marin Cilic will not play at the Australian Open-2023

Cilic, currently ranked 18th in the world, announced that he injured his knee during last week’s ATP 250 tournament in Pune, India.

“It’s not a good start to 2023 and I had some very difficult days in Melbourne. I’m disappointed I won’t be able to play at the Australian Open this year, but health comes first. See you next year, Melbourne!” – Marin Cilich on Twitter.

  • In 2018, Cilic was defeated in the final by Roger Federer 6-2, (5)6-7, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
  • The player from Croatia missed the competition in Melbourne only twice, in 2012 and 2015.
