Cardiff City is forced to pay for the transfer of Emiliano Sala

The Welsh were sanctioned in December for failing to pay an estimated €19 million following the acquisition of Sala, who died on January 21, 2019, As.com reports.

According to the British press, Cardiff recently paid around 8 million euros as the first tranche of the transfer.

Refusing to pay Nantes for the most expensive transfer in the club’s history at the time, FIFA banned the Welsh side from signing new players for three consecutive mercato periods, a measure that could be lifted in the next period.

Cardiff City have appealed FIFA’s decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, with a decision expected in early February.
