​Many people are unhappy with how the government spends the money they pay, including income tax. But they do nothing. They do not redirect up to 3.5% tax, although they have the option. It is about the money that ANAF has already collected. All they have to do is fill out the declaration.

In general, you can choose to use this money not to stay with the state, but to go to an association or NGO that is changing the situation in Romania and needs funds: they help people, save animals, build hospitals, help education, etc.

It is called: Declaration 230 and it can be found on the ANAF website (updated a few days ago) or on the websites of public organizations (where basic information is pre-filled).

It can be submitted by any worker in Romania, except for IT scientists, those working in the construction and food industries, and researchers (since they do not pay income tax). Not long ago, even state-funded citizens will not be able to apply, because the legislation has changed: they will have the same conditions as private citizens.

No additional money is taken from the salary. This money has been in the state since 2022, but by way of additional payment, the government is obliged to redirect it to those who do good deeds and whom you elected. You can save or change a life.

The filling is not difficult at all. Very simple: name, surname, identification number, etc. This is one page with several fields.

Where to apply 230: 3 ways

1. The form must be submitted to ANAF, that is, to the institution from which you downloaded Declaration 230.

The easiest option is to submit it through a virtual private space. That is, online (it’s a matter of a few clicks).

2. This can also be sent to the NGO or organization you want to divert up to 3.5%.

3. It can also be submitted in paper form directly at the ANAF registry or by mail with acknowledgment of receipt.
