According to him, this is confirmed by all official data, as well as tourism revenues, which have significantly strengthened the national economy and local communities.

Another big bet made by the Ministry of Tourism is for Greece to be a popular destination during all months of the year. According to Mr. Kikilia, this goal is already being realized, as the extension of the tourist season has become a reality.

In fact, it should be noted that in addition to destinations that have always been a pole of attraction for tourists, alternative destinations and the non-island region have now become stronger. In this direction, the Tourism for All program has made a decisive contribution. At the moment, it is reminded that at the end of January, a new lottery for 125,000 vouchers will be held as part of the program. The Minister of Tourism also spoke about the most important projects that will be implemented in 2023 using the resources of all available financial instruments in order to further develop tourism.

Which areas were considered the most preferred

According to the Ministry of Tourism, travelers prefer the regions of Central Macedonia, Peloponnese, Attica and Thessaly, while the most positive changes during the winter months were recorded in Western Greece, Western Macedonia, Thessaly and the North Aegean. Among the destinations, major cities such as Thessaloniki and Athens stood out, as well as more alternative options such as Tolo, Ioannina, Edipsos, Thassos, Kalavryta and Kastoria.

In terms of disbursement by region, based on the number of transactions, Central Macedonia ranks first, followed by the Peloponnese, Attica, Thessaly and Epirus. Specializing, the leading destinations in Central Macedonia were Thessaloniki, followed by Aridia and Halkidiki.

In Attica, the scepter belongs to the preferences of travelers Athena and then aegina and Piraeus.

Tolo and Nafplio are the best destinations in the Peloponnese.

OUR Marble and Portaria stood out in the prefecture of Thessaly, while Naxos and Tinos have become top destinations in the South Aegean.
