The competent ministries of culture and education will jointly set up joint theater, dance and music committees to address the issue of enhancing and valuing arts education. At a meeting held yesterday under the leadership of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, it was decided to set up committees between representatives of the two ministries and prominent figures in the arts sector to explore alternative ways to enhance public education in the performing arts (theater, dance) and the field of assessments, which according to to this day remain invaluable, for example, the musical education provided in conservatories.

The project, according to sources in the Ministry of Natural Resources, is quite complex, since an attempt will be made to deal with it as a whole, and not separately. In practice, this means that in a number of subjects, such as curricula, student admissions, teacher qualifications, examinations, etc., changes and adjustments will have to be made, and this will take time.

The meeting decided to set up committees to explore alternative ways to improve the quality of public education.

At the same meeting, it was decided to cut off the educational level from the wages of artists working in public institutions. The problem that exists (and was highlighted in connection with Presidential Decree 85/2022) is that in some sectors of the state, for example in OTA, the remuneration of working artists is related to their level of education, while in other bodies, for example. . in YPPOA supervised organizations and in ERT, fees are determined by separate decisions.

It is expected that the joint ministerial decision will be submitted jointly by the competent ministries (Finance, Interior, Culture), the level of education will be legally separated from the recruitment and remuneration of artists, which will not affect the existing salary regulations.
