A good year just introduced a tire prototype demo containing 90% ecological materialsthat is, materials that are bio-sourced, renewable, recycled, or that can be produced using sustainable processes that help conserve resources and/or reduce polluting emissions.

This innovative tire also successfully passed regulatory tests as well as Goodyear’s internal tests. In addition to its lineup, the American firm made sure to offer a less rolling resistance to a tire made of traditional materials, which also makes it possible to reduce fuel consumption and polluting emissions of a thermal vehicle during its use on the road.

Goodyear: up to 100% ecological tire

At the same time last year, Goodyear already presented a demonstration prototype tire containing 70% sustainable materials, which should pass the marketing stage in 2023. This time, the American firm goes even further to reach the milestone of 90% ecological materials, with the goalachieve 100% sustainable materials by the end of the decade :

“We are moving towards our goal of bringing the first 100% ecological tire to the market by 2030”says Chris Helsel, vice president of manufacturing and technology at Goodyear: “Last year was important in achieving this goal. We looked for new technologies, identified opportunities for cooperation. Our teams have been working hard to not only demonstrate our ability to produce tires made with 90% sustainable materials, but also to produce tires with up to 70% sustainable materials this year. Our team continues to innovate and collaborate to build a better future.”.

Goodyear: 17 ingredients for this durable tire

A Goodyear tire consists of 90% ecological materials includes no less than 17 ingredients in 12 tire components.
