Asked about this during a daily news conference, Peskov on Monday recalled that official authorities are the main source of information, while saying that messages shared on Telegram, Russia’s most popular messaging app, should not be taken lightly.

“There is no need to attach such importance to Telegram channels in general. The main source is the official authorities headed by the President of the Russian Federation. There is no need to exaggerate the importance of Telegram channels,” Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said about the continuation of the mobilization.

He also stated that regarding the “partial mobilization” that Putin decreed on September 21, “everything has been repeatedly said” by the official authorities.

On October 28, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the mobilization was complete, the military administration had included 300,000 “reservists” who were to be called to arms in accordance with the announcement made in September.

Is Russia preparing for a new wave of “partial” mobilization?

Rumors and hints that Russia is preparing a new wave of mobilization have appeared since November, Vladimir Putin has not signed an official decree to end it, and the Kremlin has said that it is not necessary.

Reports later surfaced that Russian authorities were preparing to mobilize hundreds of thousands more after Putin approved a 350,000-strong increase in the Russian armed forces on December 21.

Last Friday, Ukrainian military intelligence said Russia was to order the mobilization of up to 500,000 conscripts in January, up from the 300,000 it called for in October, another clear sign that Vladimir Putin has no intention of stopping the war

Vadym Skibitskyi, the deputy head of the Main Directorate of Military Intelligence of Ukraine, said that Ukraine believes that the recruits will be involved in a series of Russian offensive operations in the spring and summer in the east and south of the country.
