
In 2022 Toyota Group in France registered on the French market 113,032 cars for both brands Toyota and Lexuswhich occupy 6.8% of the passenger car market, which is 0.7% more than in 2021.
The Toyota group also remains the leader among foreign brands in terms of sales used vehicleswith 65,241 cars sold by Toyota Occasions and 4,367 by Lexus Préférence.
Toyota: sales increased by 3.6%
From the brand side Toyotatotal passenger and commercial vehicle registrations increased by 3.6% in 2022, with a total of 109,776 approx. Toyota becomes the fifth best-selling brand in France and takes the best market share in its history in the passenger car market with 6.6%, an increase of 0.8 points.
Toyota’s best sellers in 2022 are the Yaris Hybrid and Yaris Cross Hybrid, which account for 48% of total sales. The new Aygo X registered 10,313 registrations, i.e. the market share in the A segment was 12.7% compared to 2021.

Lexus: sales fell by 31%
From the brand side Lexuswe count 3256 registrations in France in 2022, the figure has fallen sharply by 31% compared to 2021 due to ongoing supply difficulties.
Then buyers stopped using used cars again: 4,367 used Lexus Préférence models were sold in 2022, up 10% from 2021. The Japanese premium brand is still recording record profitability, with the electrified mix up 93%.
Toyota and Lexus: strong business growth
Toyota saw an increase in used car sales to individuals in 2022, with 65,241 used Toyota cars sold, up 7% from 2021. For spare parts, the Toyota group and its two brands posted a record year with revenue of 177 million euros, up 16% from 2021.

Our product strength is at its highest with the support of key models such as Yaris Hybrid, Yaris Cross Hybrid and Aygo X, and allows us to rise to the 4th place in the brand ranking in the consumer channel with a historical market share of 7.9%. The group also relies on a network that is distinguished by a level of customer satisfaction that has never been achieved before for both Lexus and Toyota. 2023 will see the launch of a new Prius hybrid, a new Corolla that will use the brand’s latest hybrid technology, the bZ4X, Toyota’s first all-electric model, and the Douze Cycles cargo bike, the first micromobility. Dynamism and conquest will drive Lexus this new year with three major releases: the new RX, the new RZ 450e and the new UX 300e.”said Frank Marott, Chairman and CEO of Toyota France.
