The road through the Băneasa forest must remain covered with forest, the city’s mayor, Clotilda Armand, wrote on her Facebook page on Monday. The mayor says he supports access to the Greenfield neighborhood via this road, through the woods, only until new access roads are built from the Ring Road.

  • “The mayor should find solutions for the community, not against it. (…) I see that many read my reaction to Romsilva blocking the forest road in Greenfield in a distorted way. In addition, some editors were quick to say that I wanted to build a road through the forest and let my imagination run wild about how I would destroy the forest of Benyas. Not true, people.
  • What I have stated is that I support resident access to this forest road until the driveways are built by the developer. VERY IMPORTANT: This road MUST REMAIN FOREST. Not a street, not an alley, not anything else. Because the change of status involves the construction of real estate that will destroy the forest of Băneasa. Since we cannot hold 6,000 citizens captive and hostage, Romsilva must leave temporary access to those who live there. “, Clotilde Armand explained on Monday on the Facebook page.

The mayor’s response comes after a post Saturday on a Facebook page about access by Greenfield residents sparked a wave of backlash. More precisely, Romsilva closed the forest road, and the mayor asked to open it.

“I understand that today the Romanian police and Romsilva decided to block the road to the residents of Greenfield. An event (perhaps political) before school starts. It is clear that the City Hall of Sector 1 will do everything possible to ensure residents’ access to the Greenfield complex. The act of blocking this road is wrong and I ask Romsilva representatives to unblock the road urgently,” wrote Clotilde Armand on her Facebook page on Saturday.
