Roberto Martinez, Cristiano Ronaldo’s message after being appointed coach of Portugal

The Portuguese national team parted with Fernando Santos after the elimination from the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, and almost a month later, the Lusitanians announced the name of a new coach.

“New leader! Welcome Mr. Roberto Martinez!” – this message was published by the Portuguese on Twitter.

Roberto Martinez won the bronze medal at the World Cup in Russia (2018) with the Belgian national team, but after a humiliating exit from the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, he resigned.

In the next two years, the 49-year-old technician will train the national team that won the European Championship in 2016 and the League of Nations in 2019.

Roberto Martinez also had a message for Cristiano Ronaldo when he was unveiled as Portugal coach.

“Cristiano Ronaldo deserves respect after 19 years with the national team and we will discuss this together soon.”
