Actor Jeremy Renner, who played Hawkeye in Marvel’s “The Avengers,” was in critical but stable condition in a Nevada hospital after being injured while shoveling snow, his agent and local authorities reported.

Renner was in intensive care after surgery Monday after “sustaining chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” in the crash, publicist Samantha Mast said in a statement.

A source close to the actor told CNN that the “Avengers” actor has so far required two surgeries to repair injuries sustained in the crash.

Renner, 51, was nominated for a best actor Oscar for his role in 2008’s The Hurt Locker, which also won a best picture Oscar, and received a supporting actor nomination for his work in The City 2010 year.
