Emma Reducanu blames court for injury at WTA Auckland

Due to the rain, the match was held on an indoor field, and the British athlete named the slippery playing surface as the reason for the injury.

“It’s hard to accept. I have been doing a lot of physical work in the last few months and now I feel good and optimistic. Coming off another injury sprained ankle is disappointing, especially since it happened in week one. I think I played pretty good tennis.

The pitch is incredibly slippery, so to be honest, it’s no surprise that it happened to someone. I can’t control it, especially after a long day of waiting. I will be evaluated in the coming days and we will see what the next steps are.

It’s been raining a lot in Auckland this week so I haven’t been able to see much. I’m sure we can improve some aspects of the game, but overall I like the crowd support and the outdoor game. Thanks to the fans, I felt at home” – Emma Radukanu for things

It remains to be seen how serious the 2021 US Open champion’s injury is and whether she will have time to recover to take part in the Australian Open (January 16-29).
