The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that two officers were charged in absentia with participation in the war.

“Investigators of the SBU collected evidence in the case of two representatives of the command of the Russian Federation,” the SBU reported, noting that if the two officers are detained and convicted, they may face life imprisonment.

During the war launched by Vladimir Putin on February 24, Russian forces continued to deny that they were targeting civilians, saying they were only targeting military infrastructure in Ukraine. In April of last year, it became known about the number of victims among the civilian population in Buch near Kyiv after Russian troops withdrew from the region. Images from Buchi of corpses with their hands tied behind their backs, as if they had been shot at close range, flew around the world.
