An 11-year-old child died on Tuesday after being injured at a pedestrian crossing in the city of Kelugaren, Giurgi County, by an ambulance that had stopped to give him the right-of-way but was hit from behind by a TIR, News.ro reported.

The accident happened on DN 5 in the city of Kelugaren, Giurgiu county.

According to the police, the Bulgarian citizen, traveling by road train in the direction of Bucharest-Giurgiu, did not keep the proper distance from the SAJ Giurgiu crew, which was driven by a 49-year-old man from the Oinaku area. , said Giurgiu, confronting him. After the collision, the SAJ crew rushed to the crosswalk, where an 11-year-old minor from Kelugaren, who was given the right-of-way, would have crashed.

Resuscitation measures were performed on the child, but to no avail, and the child was pronounced dead.

Both drivers were tested on a breathalyzer, the result was negative.

Criminal proceedings have been opened in the case under the article of involuntary manslaughter. Law enforcement officers are continuing the investigation, establishing the reasons and circumstances of the incident.
