Explanation of Gianni Infantino after a selfie near Pele’s coffin

The head of the world forum explained that he wanted to help Pele’s former colleagues and that, from his point of view, his gesture was not wrong.

“I am shocked to know that some people have criticized me for taking a selfie and some pictures at yesterday’s ceremony.

I would like to make it clear that I am honored to be asked by former teammates or members of Pele’s family to take a photo with them. And of course I agreed on the spot.

In the case of the selfie, Pele’s former teammates wanted us to take a selfie together, but they didn’t know how. So, to help them, I took the phone of one of them and took a selfie.

If helping former colleague Pele causes criticism, I am happy to receive it and will continue to help those who helped write the legendary pages of football.

I respect and admire Pele so much that I would never do anything to disrespect him.

I hope that those who posted or said things without knowing or trying to find out the truth have the decency and courage to admit they were wrong and correct their mistake” – Gianni Infantino.
