Russian military personnel mobilized to take part in Vladimir Putin’s “special military operation” in Ukraine will be entitled to free sperm cryopreservation, state news agency TASS reported on Wednesday, Reuters reports.
The Ministry of Health responded to the call of the President of the Union of Lawyers of Russia, Igor Trunov, to leave it to the state, reports the Russian Press Agency.
The Ministry “identified the possibility of financial support from the federal budget for the preservation and free storage of sperm of citizens mobilized to participate in a special military operation for 2022-2024,” Trunov said.
Also, families can use the saved biological material for free, if it is allowed by the mandatory medical insurance.
Russia has called up more than 300,000 reservists to support what Putin calls his “special military operation” in Ukraine, as part of a mobilization campaign that began in September.
The campaign has forced hundreds of thousands of Russians to flee the country to avoid conscription and sparked the biggest anti-Kremlin protests since Russia sent troops into Ukraine in February.
The war continues for the 11th month, it enters a slow and time-consuming phase with the onset of winter.
