Pele died at the age of 82, “The King” died on Thursday of colon cancer. On a night between years, the Brazilians reached a special moment in the sky in Santos, the hometown of the legendary footballer.
The light show was created with the help of more than 80 drones. In the sky appeared the face and name of Pele, the World Cup trophy, as well as the player with the ball at his foot and the logo of the Santos club.

The city of Santos will pay its last respects to Pele
According to Pele’s wishes, a final tribute will be paid to him at Santos FC’s Vila Belmiro stadium on Monday before his funeral the following day, AFP reported.
At the Vila Belmiro stadium, where he scored 288 of his 1,282 goals, Pele will receive his last respects from his family, the public and the authorities.
After the 80-kilometer journey from the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo to the Santos Stadium, the King’s casket will be placed in the center of his favorite turf at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Two large tents were set up, one for relatives, the other for officials. A path protecting the grass will allow spectators to approach the center of the field. Flags and banners with the image of the three-time world champion were placed on the stands.
Celebrities such as President Lula (he took office on Sunday, January 1 in Brasilia) or Neymar (suspended for the match against Lance) are expected. After a 24-hour vigil, the king’s coffin will be moved to the Eucumenes Memorial Necropolis, a vertical cemetery.
For practical reasons, his storage will not be installed on the 9th floor of this building (as the legendary football player wanted), but on the first floor to facilitate access for visitors, writes News.ro.
