There is a “realistic possibility” that Russian forces will launch long-range strikes against Ukraine in the coming days to undermine morale in the new year, the UK Ministry of Defense has said.

In its daily update on intelligence from the front, the British ministry notes that since October, Russia has followed a general pattern of launching an intense wave of attacks every seven to ten days, mainly against energy networks in Ukraine. The latest such attack was carried out on Thursday.

• “Russia follows this approach, trying to overcome Ukrainian air defense.
• However, there is a realistic possibility that Russia will break this scheme to strike again in the coming days in an attempt to undermine the morale of the Ukrainian population during the New Year holidays,” the British Ministry of Defense said.
