President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his belief that Ukraine’s air defense can become “the most powerful in Europe” and help preserve the security of his country and Europe, CNN reports.
“Ukrainian air defense can become the most powerful in Europe, and it will be a guarantee of security not only for our country, but also for the entire continent,” Zelenskyy said in his Friday evening speech.
“This year, we not only preserved air defense, but made it stronger than ever,” Zelenskyy continued. “But in the new year, Ukrainian air defense will become even stronger, even more effective.”
The President of Ukraine also announced that on Friday he had another meeting of the General Staff, the main topic of which was the discussion of Donbas in the east of Ukraine, “where the heaviest battles are taking place.” He noted that Ukraine maintains its positions in the cities of Bakhmut, Soledar and Kreminna.
“There are also areas of the front where we are advancing slowly,” Zelenskyy said, without elaborating.
Zelensky also called the issue of electricity supply “one of the most important tasks for the next year.”
