Bistrica: Romanian migrants are starting to return

The Director General of the Bistrita-Năsăud Statistics Office, Mircea Cira, presented during the prefectural board’s meeting some guidelines for the operational assessments of the census, the local press writes. “Romanian migrants are starting to return. I will give you one number. In the reports of the district school inspectorate, there were 328 immigrant students in the 2021-2022 school year. These 328 students who entered the local school also have two parents and maybe a brother, but in any case it is more than 1,000 people in one year,” explained Mircea Cira.

“Most of you know the demographic dimension of our country. We have a resident population of 324,819 people as of January 1, 2022. (…) The previous census of 2011 took into account the permanent population of the county of 286,225 people. There were almost 50,000 people from the permanent population. The number of the permanent population on December 1, 2021, according to the National Health Service, was 273,926 people. At the end of the census, we completed questionnaires for a total of 292,511 individuals, of whom 288,201 were confirmed as CNP. In the previous census, we had about 12 thousand people verified from administrative sources, now we have questions, we do not know this information yet. The expected permanent population for the 2021 population and housing census in Bistrita-Năsăud will undoubtedly be between 295,000 and 300,000. This is up more than 10,000 from the resident population in 2011 and more than 21,000 higher than the resident population estimated by INS on December 1, 2021, which is 91% of the resident population. About 30,000 people remain, the difference between the permanent population and the population based on the place of residence in the district, who are non-residents, are far away and, in particular, abroad,” explained executive director Mircea Chira.

Ilfov: The capital is losing population to Ilfov

Bucharest lost part of its population – both due to demographic decline and the process of suburbanization, when many people moved to the neighboring county of Ilfov or even further. The level of GDP per capita expressed in terms of purchasing power in the Bucharest-Ilfov region (the most dynamic region of the country ) currently exceeds the EU-28 average by 29%, while in the North-East region, the poorest in Romania (and the fourth poorest in the EU), it represents only 35% of the EU-28 average, according to a World Bank report .

In addition, Ilfov, Suceava and Bistrita Neseud, with an average age of residents around 40, are also the youngest counties in Romania. Paradoxically, while Ilfowul offers one of the highest average net salaries in the country, quality of life, trust in government and perceptions of personal safety are among the lowest in the country.

Suceava: it has one of the highest birth and marriage rates

The mayor of Suceava, Jon Lungu, told local media that Suceava recorded the highest values or was at the top in many sections on the degree of satisfaction of the population, which shows that things in the county municipality are going in a good direction.

“The World Bank conducted a survey that we did not know about. We are surprised and pleased with certain aspects that emerged from the study. I wouldn’t necessarily talk about the degree of happiness, but I would focus on two quite important things that were done based on the economic indicators and the reports that I did at the level of the Ministry of Finance, the accounting reports that we do them. First, “How satisfied are you with the investment projects carried out by the City Hall?” We are on the first place in the country! 55% of Suchevan residents are very satisfied with the projects implemented by the city hall, and this makes me very happy,” said Ion Lungu.

He clarified that Suceava is ahead of the municipality of Oradea, where 53% of citizens are satisfied with the implemented investment projects, and the municipality of Cluj-Napoca, where a percentage of 27% is recorded.

“Another quite important indicator is: “How much do you agree with the following statement: the administrative services of my city effectively help people?”. Here we are in second place. 45% of the residents of Oradea rate this in the first place, Suceava in the second place with 38%, and Cluj in the third place, just as surprisingly, with a rather small percentage – 17%.
