
In January 2023, the government also continues to issue Tezaur government bonds, which have three issues of 1, 2 and 3 years with annual interest rates of 7.35%, 7.60% and 8% respectively.
Interested Romanians can borrow the state from Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Government bonds can be bought:
- From January 3 to January 24, 2023, online, only by natural persons who are registered in the SPV. Operations that can be carried out online are: opening a subscription account in the name of the investor in the selected body of the State Treasury, subscription to TEZAUR state securities, transfer of amounts from the investor’s subscription account to a bank account in the name of the investor.
- In the period from January 3 to 25, 2023, from the bodies of the State Treasury;
- In the period from January 3 to 24, 2023 in urban areas and from January 3 to 23, 2023 in rural areas through the postal units of CN Poșta Română SA
Government securities issued under the TEZAUR Program are transferable and may be redeemed early.
According to the Ministry of Finance, an investor can make one or more subscriptions within the issue. Investors have the option to cancel already issued subscriptions only during the subscription period by submitting an application.
Individuals over 18 years of age on the date of subscription may participate. Income received from investing in a savings offer launched by the Ministry of Finance is not taxed.
In 2022, Romanians invested more than 12 billion lei through 283,000 subscriptions in 1-, 2-, 3- and 5-year instruments with interest rates between 4.5% and 9.15%.
