On the occasion of the event Nio Day 2022held in Hefei, China, Nio not only introduced its two new models, the ES8 large electric SUV and the Nio EC7 electric coupe SUV, but also charging solutions their electric cars.
The Chinese manufacturer offers its customers two ways to “refuel” its electric car:battery replacementwhich is carried out in a network of almost 1,300 stations in China and about ten in Europe, as well as fast chargingwith a network of more than 13,000 charging points.
Nio Supercharger: 500 kW super fast charger
From the beginning of 2023, the Nio network will expand with the arrival of a a new generation of superchargersable to work up to a power 500 kW, at 660 A.
These terminals will be equipped with a 15.6-inch touch screen, as well as a cable of the latest generation with liquid cooling. This power of 500 kW allows you to charge vehicles equipped 800V technology, and speed up the duration of replenishment. At the moment, Nio electric cars do not yet have such battery technology, but it should be in the future. It can be found, for example, in the Porsche Taycan, Audi E-tron GT or the latest Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6 and Kia EV6 models.

Nio battery replacement station: the third generation
In 2023, the network of battery replacement stations Nio should be counted on 400 additional sites. New in the spring third generation stations will be commissioned and will accommodate more customers for even faster service.
The batteries, charged to a maximum power of 500 kW and a maximum current of 650 A, can be installed in just a few minutes in a compatible electric vehicle. Version 3 of Nio Station may contain 21 batteriesand has capacity 408 exchanges per day, which is 30% more than in “V2”. The system, equipped with two laser radars and two Nvidia Orin X chips, allows to optimize the control of vehicles inside each station in autonomous mode.
Nio Supercharger: Fast-growing fast charging network
The Chinese manufacturer already has a fast charging network 2239 charging stationsto 13,083 charging points in general. These terminals are available not only for Nio cars, but also for all customers with an electric car.
William Lee, founder and CEO of Nio, also released some interesting numbers on the matter: in fact, only about 20% of top-ups at Nio terminals are done by Nio vehicles, while the rest make up at least 110 different brands of vehiclessuch as BYD, Tesla or Geely.
