The climber, who was found at noon on Christmas Day in a 400-meter-deep gorge on Olympus while he was with a friend at the base of Luquiu tou Mitikas at an altitude of 2,700 meters, was found unconscious today.

Today, the fire brigade approached the man with the help of an Air Force Super Puma, found him unconscious, took him to a helicopter, and then took him to the helipad of the 24th Litochoro Brigade, where he was picked up by an EKAV ambulance and taken to the Katerininsky hospital.

Members of the 2nd EMAK Thessaloniki, 8th EMAK Larisa, Litohoro fire officers and members of the Hellenic Rescue Group attempted to bring the climber back. Recall that the unconscious climber was found by his friend, who, however, could not approach him, since the place is very steep.

As stated in today’s message from the fire department, the operational headquarters of the fire department was informed of the incident yesterday afternoon, and 13 firefighters with three vehicles were immediately mobilized, in particular, the climbing search and rescue teams of the Litochora fire service, as well as the 2nd and 8th EMAK.
