Dan Petrescu dreams of one day working as a coach in the Premier League

Taking second place in the Super League together with CFR Cluj (one point behind the leader Farul Konstanz), Petrescu specified for gsp.ro, which is the big goal of a coaching career.

The Badger dreams of one day coaching in the Premier League, the league where he impressed for London’s Chelsea (1996-2000).

“When I was doing well at Dynamo Moscow, I had a chance to go to England for Crystal Palace, who were in the Premier League, but in last place.

They had four points after 11 games. Then we had seven offers from the Championship, but always during the Championship there were teams occupying 13th, 14th, 15th place.

It seemed foolish to me to go, to take a risk. If you fail the first time, you never enter again.

I dream of training in England, but I’m not going to stay for a month and go. I don’t want to be a passenger. I would like to take on the project from the beginning and see if I can train there” – Dan Petrescuaccording to the cited source.

Dan Petrescu about the position of selector of Romania

“I was very close three times (to becoming a breeder). It’s always a challenge. I think it was a very good decision to keep Edie at this point. Granted, the results weren’t what they should have been, but there are no wizards on this planet.

Even if I left, no Hagi could make a quick impact. You have to have a little patience. If there is no patience with the coach, it is very difficult, especially with the national team.

There you have to have a core of players and go with it, not change. Go with a core of players you trust. This is what Angel Iordanescu did to us. We were 13 players, the rest didn’t matter. He had a core, and he walked on it” – Dan Petrescu for gsp.ro.

Dan Petrescu is satisfied with the progress of CFR 2022

“38 or 39 games, that’s a lot in a short time, it’s very difficult, especially now, and I’ve had three trips recently. It was a year… one of the best of my career, great results, with all the problems that were there.

I think only results will keep me in the job and I hope to continue to have very good results, to last at least another 200 games,” he added. Dan Petrescu.

Together with CFR, Petrescu won five championship titles in Romania: 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2021-2022.

The coach also holds the title of national champion won with Unir Urziceni: 2008-2009.
