“It became obvious that clashes with these forces, including in Ukraine, are inevitable. The only question was when it would happen,” Putin said at a meeting with high-ranking military officials.

“Of course, military operations are always associated with tragedies and human casualties. We understand and realize this very well. But since it was inevitable, today is better than tomorrow,” he continued.

Putin insisted that Russia’s goals in Ukraine would be achieved.

He also said that Moscow has “no limits” in funding its military. “The government will provide the army with everything it needs,” the head of the Kremlin said.
