AADE: 65 catering companies hid more than 14 million euros in revenue

Sixty five enterprises focuswere discovered by his auditors AADE for tax evasion through platform sales of orders for which they either did not cut receipts or did not show them on their tax returns.

Cooperation with delivery platforms and their analysis using a special AADE algorithm led to the identification of discrepancies between the amounts of orders and the amounts officially declared by the tax office.

The auditors identified 65 companies with undeclared sales of more than 14 million euros. The 23 most important cases are tentatively mentioned:

1. A cafe in Crete for 2019-2020 was found to have failed to file income tax and VAT returns, hiding income of €1.45 million.

2. In a restaurant in the central sector of Athens for the period from 2019 to 2021, it was found that 91,300 tax items were not issued for a total net value of 685,000 euros.

3. In a pancake shop in Epirus between 2017 and 2019, it was found that 92,800 tax data were not released, hiding taxable material worth 400,000 euros.

4. In a pancake shop in Thessaly between 2018 and 2020, it was found that 40,400 tax data had not been issued, hiding taxable material worth 285,000 euros.

5. In a cafeteria in Thessaloniki between 2018 and 2020, it was found that 42,500 tax data were not issued for a total amount of hidden materials of 275,000 euros.

6. In a pizzeria in Magnesia, between 2018 and 2020, 20,300 cases of non-issuance were found, for a total amount of hidden material of 211,000 euros.

7. In a canteen in the southern sector of Athens for the period from 2019 to 2021, it was found that 62,350 tax invoices were not issued, totaling 200,000 euros.

8. In a restaurant in Achaia, between 2017 and 2019, it was found that an unspecified amount of tax information was not issued with a total hidden material amount of 180,000 euros.

9. In a restaurant in Achaia, between 2017 and 2019, it was found that tax information was not issued in 27,550 cases with a total amount of hidden material of 185,000 euros.

10. In a kitchen in Thessaloniki, between 2019 and 2022, it was found that tax information was not issued in 9,000 cases with a total amount of hidden material of 170,000 euros.

11. In a restaurant in Achaia, between 2017 and 2019, it was found that tax information was not issued in 38,700 cases with a total amount of hidden material of 165,000 euros.

12. In a restaurant in Achaia, between 2017 and 2020, it was found that tax information was not issued in 20,000 cases with a total amount of hidden material of 160,000 euros.

13. In a restaurant in Achaia, between 2017 and 2020, it was discovered that 3,400 tax returns were not filed, hiding taxable material in the amount of 140,000 euros.

14. In a coffee shop in Ioannina, between 2017 and 2018, it was found that 730 tax data hiding taxable material in the amount of 100,000 euros were not issued.

15. It was found that a limited liability company in Athens, whose activity is the provision of catering services, between 2016 and 2019 did not provide income tax information in 40,400 cases for a total net value of 318,000 euros.

16. An Athens limited liability company operating in the food service business was found to have submitted inaccurate income tax and VAT returns for 2020-2021, hiding taxable income of €940,000.

17. A Sole Proprietor in Thessaloniki engaged in coffee and snacks was found to have failed to provide 101,300 tax data between 2018 and 2019 with a net worth of €540,000.

18. A Sole Proprietor Catering Business in Athens found that it had not filed tax returns for 2018-2019, hiding taxable income of €350,000.

19. An individual enterprise located in Thessaloniki and engaged in the provision of catering services did not issue 12,900 tax details during 2019-2021. The net value of the items in question was €125,000.

20. A sole proprietorship located in Patras and dealing with services provided by a refreshment center (entertainment center) failed to provide 54,700 tax details during 2017-2020. The net value of the items in question was €295,000.

21. A joint stock company based in Corinth and engaged in canteen services did not provide tax information during 2016-2021. The net value of the items in question was €950,000.

22. A Chania-based privately owned catering company failed to file 137,000 tax returns in 2018-2020. The net value of the items in question was EUR 1,090,000.

23. A sole proprietorship with a snack bar business and headquarters in Athens failed to file 133,000 tax returns during 2018-2020 for a net worth of €535,000.

Investigations will continue until 2023 as a number of targeted cases are currently underway.
