Petitions for release from prison, filed by Ilias Kasidiaris and Yiannis Lagos, were rejected by a five-member Court of Criminal Appeal.
The court unanimously refused to accept the motions of the MEP and the ex-MP for a stay of execution of the sentence, satisfying the proposal made earlier by the district prosecutor, which ruled that the two convicted members of the Golden Dawn leadership group should remain in custody. .
The judges also unanimously rejected the prosecution’s motion for release from liability filed by Giannis Lagos. By their decision, the judges charged the defendants with legal costs ranging from 50 to 250 euros. The application was heard by the new prosecutor at headquarters, the applicants’ prosecutor Eleni Raikou, while the court charged the applicant with legal costs ranging from 50 to 250 euros.
“It follows from the registered proposal that the prosecutor read out part of the decision of the first instance. Therefore, he did not express a personal judgment and the application for release should be rejected,” Ms. Raikou stressed.
Finally, by its decision, the court satisfied the petition of the defense of the accused, with which the Civil Procedure Department also agreed, to summon the partner of Pavlos Fissas, in whose arms the musician died. The woman gave evidence only to the police and the Piraeus investigator.
