PASOK-KINAL: Food pass doesn’t match price increase

Dimitris Manzos, spokesman for PASOK-Movement for Change, commented on the food pass measure announced yesterday by the Prime Minister as insufficient. Speaking to ANT1, Mr. Manzos emphasized that “this is not consistent with the effect and influence of inflation on the increase in the cost of basic products. “Well, this recipe doesn’t work for us.” Instead, he proposed “policies of regulation and control to combat market dishonesty”.

Mr. Manzos cited the problem that North Dakota is “copying SYRIZA’s welfare policy” because it does not invest in the welfare state. “This is not something that ND and SYRIZA can be proud of, despite the fact that both of them have proven their consistency in this model,” emphasized the representative of PASOK-Movement for Change.

He reiterated that on the part of PASOK-Movement for Change “this is about structural measures and market regulation with the strengthening of independent authorities and market control mechanisms in order to stop speculation and hyperinflation of profits where they should not exist”, while emphasizing the need for “tax justice”, that is, the reduction of indirect taxes and especially VAT.

Regarding the case of Eva Kaili and whether it will damage the PASOK-Movement for Change, Dimitris Manzos spoke about “damaging the entire political system, both Greek and European”, as well as “damaging the trust of citizens, especially young people, in institutions”, while noting that “our party should be given credit for the immediate reaction at the value level and the call for zero tolerance for corruption.” He made it clear that “Mr Androulakis did not attempt to attribute Ms Kailis to ND. He just said some historical truths that are understandably disturbing.”

Finally, responding to “prophets after Christ, whether inside or outside the party,” Mr. Manzos said that “we could not have known that there was corruption in line with Ms. Kylie’s position on Qatar. It is very important that the institutions of democracy and justice work, and this is a big bet.”
