The JAC E10x is a small city car that has been sold in Latin America by Sehol since last year. Like all cars offered for sale in the South American market, a small 100% electric Chinese car passed through the hands of the Latin NCAP organization. A twin to our Euro NCAP test, it evaluates the safety of different models thanks to a rating system 5 starsand the JAC E10x won none!
Can’t stop it?
Although the JAC E10x is not the first Chinese car to receive absolutely no stars in the South American crash test, The organization notes, however, that this is the first car of its kind that does not automatically shut off the engine after an impact. And this, even if the dashboard shows that the engine is turned off! A small detail that isn’t really a big deal from a safety perspective.
Environmentally friendly, but…
Add to this minor engine problem abnormal tire wear during the inspection and stability test. The South American organization simply decided to stop certain tests without even completing them! Driver assistance that is no more than an option when the car only has two bad airbags. A series of findings that prompted Latin-NCAP to describe it as “respectable for the environment, but dangerous for the lives of its inhabitants”. Probably a model to avoid, we’d say…
