“The Authority is under parliamentary oversight and otherwise enjoys complete independence in carrying out its constitutional and general regulatory responsibilities,” Christos Rammos, president of the Communications Privacy Authority, emphasizes in a statement regarding publications relating to the monitoring case and managed ADAE at a telecommunications company.
He also notes that “various reviews are open and ongoing.”
Statement by ADAE President Christos Rammos
“It is clear that even after the publication of the latest law (5002/22), the Communications Privacy Authority continues to exercise its supervisory powers established by the Constitution (Article 19 § 2) and Executive Law (3115/03) with respect to guaranteeing the confidentiality of communications, as well as should be. In this context, various reviews are open and ongoing. It should be recalled that the Authority is under parliamentary control and otherwise enjoys full independence in the performance of its constitutional and general regulatory duties. In order to fulfill its democratic mission, it cooperates, like all public authorities, with each co-competent authority.”
