
Her leader Polish Police officer Yaroslav Simchik has been hospitalized with minor injuries following an explosion of a gift he received from a senior Ukrainian official, Poland’s interior ministry said today.
“Yesterday at 7:50 am, an explosion occurred in a room adjoining the office of the chief of police,” the official statement said.
“One of the gifts received by the chief of police during a working visit to Ukraine on December 11 and 12 exploded,” the statement said.
During this visit, Simchik met with representatives of the Ukrainian police and emergency services. “He received this gift from one of the leaders of Ukrainian services,” the ministry said.
The statement said the police chief’s injuries were “light” and that he remained in the hospital under observation.
A civilian worker at the National Police Headquarters also received minor injuries that did not require treatment.
The Polish side turned to the Ukrainian side with a request for clarification,” the statement reads.
