Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns said on Friday that he believes that Russian attacks on infrastructure in Ukraine will continue, although the agency expects a “lower tempo” of fighting during the winter, according to CNN.

Currently, the CIA sees no immediate path to negotiating an end to the conflict, he said.

“Our assessment does not show us that the Russians are serious about real negotiations at this point,” Bill Burns said in an interview with PBS.

Since October, Russia has launched numerous missile strikes that have damaged Ukraine’s energy system and civilian infrastructure, causing massive power outages in the middle of winter. On Friday, rocket attacks were recorded in several regions of Ukraine, in particular in Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.
