The Twitter account that tracked the movements of Elon Musk’s private jet has been suspended.
According to Bloomberg, on Wednesday morning, the @elonjet page posted a message saying “account suspended” on the grounds that Twitter is suspending accounts that violate the platform’s rules.
The account manager in question is Jack Sweeney, who told Bloomberg that he received the following message:
“Your account has been permanently suspended. After careful investigation, we found that this violates Twitter policies. Your account is permanently in read-only mode.”
Sweeney, 20, a student at the University of Central Florida, said he had not received any other notifications from Twitter.

The account tracked the movements of Musk’s private jet for almost two years, using publicly available flight data and sending automated alerts.
The student had previously turned down the Tesla CEO’s 2021 offer to close his $5,000 account, asking instead to increase it to $50,000. According to Sweeney, Musk tried several times to contact him to ask him to shut it down.
He promised not to suspend the account.
However, Musk promised last month that he would not “close” the account.
“My commitment to free speech even extends to not blocking an account that follows my plane, even if it poses an immediate risk to personal safety,” he said.
Sweeney operates other automated accounts through a business called Ground Control, including accounts that track celebrity planes as well as accounts that are designed to track planes used by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
