The Ukrainian authorities discovered a camera with which the Russians detained and tortured children during the occupation of Kherson, said Dmytro Lubinets, the human rights representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, on December 14, Kyiv Independent reports.

According to the testimony of local residents and other victims of torture in the facility, they knew that minor Ukrainians were being held there by the Russian special services, who called the facility a “children’s cell.”

The children received little water and almost no food, Lubinets said. According to local residents, the children were subjected to psychological abuse by Russian prisoners, who told them that their parents had abandoned them and that they would never return home.

According to Lubinets, the 14-year-old boy was arrested and then tortured just for taking pictures of broken Russian equipment.

“For the first time, we recorded the torture of children,” Lubinets said. “I thought that it couldn’t get worse after Buchi, Irpin… but it really got worse in Kherson.”

On November 9, by order of Defense Minister Serhiy Shoigu, Russian troops withdrew from the Kherson region on the left bank of the Dnieper, leaving the capital of the region of the same name.
