Twitter has suspended the “Elon Musk Jet” of a teenager from the United States who tracked the private jets of the social network’s new owner and CEO, Elon Musk, CNBC and Bloomberg reported.
The account was managed by Jack Sweeney, a student from the American state of Florida, who reported at the end of January that Elon Musk had written him a private message on Twitter with a request to close the account.
“Yes, I can, but it will cost you one [Tesla] Model 3, if you’re not kidding me?” Sweeney responded, to which the South African billionaire wrote that he wasn’t keen on the ‘idea of being run over by a donkey’.
After several correspondences between them, Musk finally offered the young man $5,000.
“Any chance you could go up to $50,000?” Sweeney asked him. “It would be a great support for college and even allow me to buy a car, maybe even a Model 3,” he added.
The billionaire blocked Sweeney on Twitter
Musk replied that he would think about it and give an answer, but did not contact the user again. Later, the young man reported that he wrote to the billionaire again asking if he would be willing to offer him an internship at Tesla instead of an electric car, but he did not respond.
A few days later, Sweeney announced that Elon Musk had blocked him on Twitter.
“You know, it’s a little weird, he wants to delete the account and he seems really angry,” he said on February 1.
Score @ElonJet The company he runs has grown to more than half a million Twitter followers by tracking the flights of Elon Musk’s private jet based on publicly available data.
The teenager told Insider reporters that Musk took some of the measures he himself recommended during their conversation on Twitter. This would make tracking the plane difficult, “but not impossible,” according to the young man.
Elon Musk’s arbitrary move on Twitter?
Sweeney announced Wednesday morning that Twitter had suspended the account.
“Looks like @ElonJet is suspended,” the young man wrote on the social network, also urging fans of the page to follow him on other platforms.

In a later post, he said that Twitter notified him of the page’s permanent suspension.

The move reportedly came after Musk on Monday abruptly ordered the dissolution of Twitter’s Safety and Trust Council, a volunteer body at the company that included dozens of human rights activists, anti-extremism activists and academics.
That board was aimed at improving security at Twitter, but it’s unclear whether it had the authority to block Musk’s decision to arbitrarily suspend accounts, or whether the suspension of Sweeney’s page was related to the disbanding of the body.
The move is the latest in a series of controversial decisions Musk has made since he officially took control of Twitter in late October, with many netizens now noting the irony of a self-proclaimed “absolutist” on free speech but ordered the accounts shut down. that it bothers him personally.
