Football player Amir Nasr-Azdani has been sentenced to death in Iran

“The International Federation of Professional Footballers’ Associations (FIFPRO) is shocked by reports that professional football player Amir Nasr-Azdani is scheduled to be executed in Iran for protesting against basic women’s rights and freedoms in his country. We stand in solidarity with Amir and demand the immediate cancellation of the punishment,” the trade union announced, reports Marca.

The Iranian regime has accused former Rah-Ahan, Tractor and Gol-e player Raihan, 26, of a crime called “moharebeh”.

It provides for execution by hanging, a punishment already meted out to the young Mohsen Shekari and the wrestler Majid Reza Rahnavard, who were publicly hanged in the city of Mashad.

Only one Iranian player who participated in the World Cup in Qatar reacted to the punishment received by Amir Nasr-Azdani. Goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand called on social networks to cancel the performance.
