Bangkok International Film Festival: Ukrainian anti-war drama “Klondike” won the main prize

Its 15th International Film Festival Bangkok concluded on Sunday with a well-organized awards ceremony and screenings of the films Intimacy (Belgium) and Arnold the Model Student.

After a five-year absence due to lack of funding, political will, and the death of founder Victor Sillakong, the festival returned with a unanimous jury decision on the winner. The main prize went to the anti-war drama “Klondike” producer Marina Yer Gorbach, Ukraine.

The $2,850 Director’s Award went to Serbian directors Dusan Zoric and Matija Glushkevich for “Have You Seen This Woman?”.

The Grand Jury Prize went to Ananda Titanat, whose documentary The Rock showed the collapse of Bangkok’s last independent art house cinema. Thus, the director had the opportunity to come face to face with his childhood memories and communicate with those responsible for the historical site.

The Jury Prize for Screenplay went to two films: the Japanese-Chinese production Stonewalling and the Slovak-Czech-German drama Victim.

The Technical Achievement Award (Camera and Editing) went to Indian Autobiography.
