Black Keys they return to rockwave festival and specifically on July 8, 2023.
The American rock duo from Ohio are coming to TerraVibe eight years after they arrived in our country in the summer of 2015. Dan Auerback (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums) stated: “After eight years, we are delighted to announce that the Black Keys are returning to Europe and the UK. We look forward to seeing you at the concerts that will take place at these iconic venues.”
The Black Keys were born in Akron, Ohio (USA) – the city that gave birth to tire companies, waffle cones, oatmeal and huge basketball legend LeBron James. Initially, they decided to drop out of college and devote themselves to their great love – music. Their dream was to create raw electric blues, to combine blues and garage music influences with their love of indie rock. So, “The Big Come Up” hit the windows of music stores in 2002.
Then followed Rubber Factory and Thickfreakness, adored by the public and critics. At the same time, their live performances have been a topic of discussion from the very beginning, making them one of the most dynamic duos in the history of modern music.
Their first three albums were written in their own studio and were “handmade” as they did everything themselves: writing lyrics, music, producing… until the fourth album, Attack and Release. They then decided to enter a professional studio for the first time and hire producer Danger Mouse, a daring hip-hop producer, a decision that paid off as the album reached No. 23 on the Top 100 Songs of 2008.
In the 20 years that The Black Keys have been together, each subsequent album has outsold the last: Brothers debuted at number 3 in 2010, then El Camino in 2011 went straight to number two, and 2016’s Turn Blue appeared at number 1.
Their album El Camino propelled them to the pinnacle of success as it was nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning three. One Grammy for Best Rock Album and two Grammys for Favorite, Much Played and Dancing Lonely Boy.
Their latest album, their 11th album, Dropout Boogie takes its title from a song by Captain Beefheart and is also nominated for the 65th Grammy in the Best Rock Album category. Recorded at Auerbach Studios in Nashville, Easy Eye Sound. “It came almost uncut.” Auerbach says. “We didn’t plan it. We lived in the moment, played music and followed our instincts. It makes what Pat and I do great. It happens instantly… Pat and I look forward to making music spontaneously.”
