The Minister for the Protection of Citizens opened fire on the opposition, Takis Theodorikakosin his statements about the shooting of a policeman against a 16-year-old teenager in Thessaloniki.
Mr. Theodorikakos spoke of the official opposition’s attempt to identify the Thessaloniki incident with the assassination of Alexandros Grigoropoulos and achieve a “repetition of the unfortunate events” of that time. “It is being investigated by the judiciary. Let’s all respect that. Unfortunately, the official opposition is trying to instrument the case for biased reasons. They are trying to dangerously identify themselves with 2008 and repeat the sad events.”
The Minister of Citizens’ Protection wished the family of the 16-year-old teenager “a speedy recovery”, while specifying that “the law applies to everyone without exception.” “The strength of the Republic cannot be challenged by anyone. Yesterday’s attacks and injuries to police officers must be unanimously condemned. We support the police, but always strictly within the law. The law is for everyone without exception. I wish the 16-year-old’s family a speedy recovery.”
