Grant Wahl, suspicious death aged just 48 – Died during World Cup 2022 broadcast in Qatar

Val, 48, actually fainted while reporting from the final tournament on the dramatic match between Argentina and the Netherlands (won by Messi and co after 11-metre kicks).

His death caused a real shock in the sports world.

Val “passed out” in the press center while covering Friday’s Argentina-Netherlands match, a witness told CNN.

As the New York Times reports, doctors resuscitated the American for more than 20 minutes right in the stands of the Lusail Iconic Stadium. Unfortunately, everything was in vain.

Tim Scanlan, the journalist’s agent, said, among other things, that Val had been feeling unwell for the past few days and had trouble sleeping.

Grant Wall has been writing about football for over two decades as a highly respected journalist. He has worked for Sports Illustrated and has authored two books on royal sports.

Grant Wahl complained of chest pain just a few days ago

Just a few days ago (December 6, to be exact), Grant Wahl said on the (Football) podcast that he was not feeling well and had chest pains.

“It got really bad in terms of chest pain, tightness, pressure,” Grant Wahl.

The journalist sought help at the medical clinic of the media center in Qatar, suspecting that he had bronchitis.

He was treated with cough syrup and ibuprofen and then reported feeling better.
