Russia intends to work hard to prevent violations of Syria’s territorial integrity, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a speech on Wednesday as Turkey prepares for a ground intervention in northern Syria.
“We will firmly try to ensure that there are no violations of the territorial integrity of Syria,” the Russian minister emphasized at the Primakov Readings forum.
Mr. Lavrov said that Russia was interested in Turkey and Syria resolving security issues through dialogue, and that the conditions for its resumption were already ripe.
“We are interested that, based on the Adana Agreement between Turkey and Syria, which remains in force, these two countries, through the resumption of dialogue, now seem ripe to address specific border security issues, given the legitimate concerns that the Syrian leadership recognizes “, – said Mr. Lavrov.
