Two Russian airbases in central Russia were attacked by Ukrainian drones on Monday, killing three people, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, AFP reported.
On Monday morning, “the Kyiv regime (…) attempted to strike with Soviet-made drones at the Dyaguilevo air base in the Ryazan region and the Enguels air base in the Saratov region,” the report said.
The ministry accuses Ukrainian forces of trying to “disable Russian long-range jets” that have been used to strike numerous energy infrastructure on Ukrainian soil in recent weeks.
While these drones were intercepted by Russian air defense systems, their debris fell on the territory of the attacked air bases, causing explosions and “minor” damage to two aircraft, the report said.
As a result of these shellings, three Russian servicemen “received mortal wounds”, four more were hospitalized, the same source reported.
Despite these attacks, a “massive precision strike” around 12:00 GMT on Monday targeted Ukrainian military facilities and energy infrastructure linked to Ukrainian forces, the statement said, adding that overall 17 goals.
Two powerful explosions occurred overnight from Sunday to Monday at different airfields in Russia, both of which are used by the Moscow Air Force as bases for its strategic bomber units.

Interesting video of the explosion at the Engels air base. After 15 seconds, the sound of something flies overhead. At 42 seconds, the light from the explosion. After 19 seconds – the sound of an explosion, about 6.2 km (speed of sound 326.34 m/s, dry air -8 C.) pic.twitter.com/rJ897Sv3Wv
