The President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, has applied to the European Court of Human Rights in the case of monitoring him by the EPM.
Mr. Androulakis announced the appeal in a recent press interview he gave two weeks ago, and according to his lawyers, he is recommending another round of institutional investigation and uncovering those responsible.
A PASOK-Movement for Change spokesperson said in a statement that “although his monitoring by the EMP for three months in 2021 was recognized by the most official mouth of the Prime Minister himself, he was not given the opportunity to meet even to be officially informed of the reasons for which his “liaison” was ordered, as well as in order to initiate any procedure in court or in parliament to qualify this connection as illegal, as it really was.
Thus, his right to an “effective remedy” guaranteed by Article 13 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) was violated. In his address, the President of PASOK-KINAL emphasizes the fact that “neither the current legislation, nor, even worse, the submitted government bill, provides for elementary effective legal assistance for this purpose, which for many years has been in a number of decisions of the ECtHR. strongly condemned.”
With this move, according to the announcement, the president of the PASOK Movement for Change is seeking strict rules in both Greece and Europe that guarantee all citizens the two most valuable legal benefits in today’s society: privacy and freedom of communication for all of us.
