The government adopted the budget for 2023 at a meeting on Thursday. It should be sent to the parliament, and it will most likely be adopted next week.

It was based on the budget’s target cash deficit, which was estimated at 4.4% of GDP, and the EUS deficit, which was estimated at 4.4% of GDP.

Institutions that will receive more money from the budget

The presidential administration will have a budget of 120 million lei, which is about 35% more than this year’s budget.

The Chamber of Deputies was allocated 589.5 million lei, which is 7.33% more.

Ministry of Agriculture: 25.2 billion lei (+7%)

Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism: 4 billion lei (+3%)

According to Adrian Cachiu, the total budget of the Ministry of Education is 37 billion lei. He specified that education receives 3.2% of GDP, because it is included in several budgets, accordingly also in local ones, because it is a process of decentralization since 2010. These are costs borne by local authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs – 1.286 billion lei, which is 2.88% lower than this year’s budget.

Ministry of Energy: 2.96 billion lei (-64%)

Ministry of Justice: 2.9 billion lei (-51.7%)

*According to Adrian Cachiu, Minister of Finance, the law on the salaries of magistrates came into force, so we see an increase of 15 times more in the Supreme Court of Cassation, i.e. 2.67 billion lei. That is, the specified amount was transferred from the Ministry of Justice to the ICCJ.
