The organizers of the Australian Open 2023 have announced the list of players who are directly admitted to the main draw of the first Grand Slam next season. Simona Halep, temporarily suspended for doping, is absent.

According to journalist Ben Rothenberg, Simona Halep (tested positive for Roxadustat while testing at the 2022 US Open) and Daria Saville (formerly Gavrilova) are the only notable absentees in the women’s singles.
Iryna Begu, Sorana Kirstea, Ana Bohdan, Jacqueline Christian and Patricia Sieg in the main draw of the Australian Open 2023
Romania is not bad at all when it comes to athletes who have directly entered the main draw of the Australian Open 2023. We are talking about five players who are confident of participating in the Grand Slam in Melbourne (of course, if everything goes well from a physical point of view).
Iryna Begu, Sorana Kirstea, Ana Bohdan, Jacqueline Christian (protected rating) and Patricia Sieg (also protected rating) will enter the main draw of the Australian competition.
The 2023 Australian Open will be held on January 16-23. The reigning champions are Ashley Barty (now retired) and Rafael Nadal.
That’s a ton (record?) of protected ratings that does #AusOpen the main grid cut off a very high #95.
Halep (suspended), Saville (knee) are the only ranked players not in the top 95. https://t.co/ExBMNYtDqh
